As Head of Legal at Vapaus, you will assume an overall responsibility for legal matters covering the group’s entire geographical footprint. You will report to the group CFO and act as a manager to one legal counsel. This role will require you to cover a wide array of legal matters both in Finland and abroad. However, in foreign jurisdictions and in significant projects, outsourced legal support can be engaged.  

In a rapidly evolving growth company, job descriptions are never set in stone. Nevertheless, you can expect to work with, for example, leasing and other contractual matters, financing rounds, M&A, employment law, privacy, and corporate governance. You will also serve as secretary to the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team.    

The position is based at the group’s headquarters in Maria01 in Kamppi, Helsinki. Vapaus has a flexible approach to remote working. 

You could be the lawyer we are looking for if you tick the following boxes: 

✅ You have a Finnish legal degree (or equivalent) and ideally a minimum of four years of relevant post-graduation working experience (but you can be significantly more experienced), for example, from a business law or consultancy firm or from an in-house legal role. 

✅ You have solid experience in a broad range of commercial contracts and other legal matters, ideally in an international context. Prior exposure to leasing-based business models, start-up or growth companies, and legal areas such as private M&A, private equity, venture capital, finance, employment law, privacy, and corporate governance are all great assets. However, a can-do attitude and the willingness to constantly learn and develop are equally important!  

✅ You are quick to adapt to changes and are resilient – in a growth company, things move quickly, and you will not always have crystal clear visibility of what lies ahead. Therefore, we are looking for an individual who enjoys a ride with some twists and turns along the way. 

✅ You take initiative and ownership and aim to find the optimal balance between business priorities and legal risks. 

✅ You are fluent in Finnish and English. Additional language skills in Swedish and/or French are a plus but not a requirement.
