Legal Counsel @ STARK Suomi

If you are thinking YES, please keep reading, because you could be the lawyer we are looking for to join STARK Suomi as a new Legal Counsel!
🪜In this new role, you will be the first Legal Counsel to join Stark Suomi. You will work closely with and report to the General Counsel of Stark Suomi as well as collaborate with other Stark legal professionals around Europe.
📍You will be working with:
Drafting, commenting and negotiating commercial contracts;
Assisting the business in claims management and handling the more complicated claims cases;
Creating and developing STARK Suomi’s compliance programs, policies and instructions connected to e.g. data privacy, anti-bribery & corruption, competition law and sector specific regulations;
Advising the sales, category and admin functions in varied legal topics; and
Participating in various development projects, for example related to properties and facilities.
You will primarily advise and support the business in operative legal topics, while also contributing to strategic legal and compliance process development.
🏡 STARK Suomi’s team works mostly on-site based on a hybrid working policy allowing one remote working day/week. This role is based in STARK Suomi’s HQ located in Olari, Espoo. Occasional travel (less than 5 % of your working hours) may be required.
This role would be ideal for a legal professional who has:
🔹 a Finnish legal degree and approximately 2–5 years of post-graduate experience preferably from a highly-considered business law firm or other equally demanding working environment;
🔹 fluent language skills in Finnish and English, and the ability to communicate in a clear and convincing manner in both languages;
🔹 a strong motivation to grow and develop as a generalist lawyer in STARK Suomi’s business environment – this is by far more important than having a certain pre-existing subject-matter legal expertise;
🔹 the ability to travel occasionally and a positive attitude towards different work assignments;
🔹 a skill set required to build, develop and launch compliance processes and future-facing ways of working – previous experience within data protection is considered as an advantage; and
🔹 a shared understanding that an in-house legal counsel should prioritize being there for the business – to support the business both reactively and proactively, and by fixing ongoing, operative issues as well as taking a strategic & development-oriented view on the big picture.
As you can probably read based on the above criteria, we are not on the look-out for a certain specific, pre-existing legal substance-matter skill set. While this role calls for prior experience from a demanding legal role, the most important decisive factor is that you can demonstrate your motivation, potential, capability to learn by doing and based on feedback, as well as your proactive, systematic and analytical ways of working.
